Finding of Susanne Stiassni portrait
The villa was built by Stiassni spouses and their portraits can visitors see in the interior. So far, nobody expected that there is a third depicting a portrait of their daughter Susanne. And it becomes part of the exhibition.
In fact all of the paintings was found only as black and white photo image of the original work. Unexpectedly, it was stored in a frame under glass behind another picture of Susanne. Both of the pictures had in her apartment Mrs. Marie Straková - the daughter of the head gardener of the family Stiassni Mr. Anthony Fröml and former friend of Susanne.
This is an important finding, showing that the trio of portraits emerged gradually and although the images were intended for presentation at one point, the family cared that all members was commemorated by the hands of the same painter.
Association of Friends of the villa Stiassni plans to let produce a copy of the original image. This should be in June 2017 on the occasion of the birthday Susanne Stiassni. It will be already the second philanthropic action by the association - they financed the production of copies of portraits of Alfred and Hermine last year.
Alfred with Hermine had a wedding in 1909, ten years later, let portray in the studio of originally Polish painter Henryk Rauchingera in Vienna. It took another ten years before the portraits were moved into the villa Stiassni, that was then newly built. Newly discovered portrait of Susanne Stiassni originated sometime in the years 1931-1933, the little girl in it is between the ages of eight and ten years. According appearance is no doubt that this is Susanne. It is also highly likely that the picture broke in the same studio. A painter at the time reached the age about 74 years.
