Villa Stiassni invites you to the “Písečník” workers' housing estate in Brno

The exhibition, you can see from Friday, October 7, 2016 at the villa Stiassni, is about one of Brno's workers' housing estates, which have until now kept totally unique atmosphere. Houses located on the territory of the former sand quarry looks like little village in the middle of Brno.
The exhibition presents the circumstances of the founding of Brno workers' colonies, you can see it shown on historical maps, read about the life of workers and building regulations restricting poor houses. You can see a number of photographs, some of which are published for the first time. Visitors can also get acquainted with life in today's Písečník. Exhibited are also several items that are preserved in Písečník.
The exhibition project was created in cooperation of the National Heritage Institute, Methodical center of modern architecture in Brno and EkoCentrum Brno, which has its seat in the house Písečník No. 94. The exhibition is accessible in the villa Stiassni until 26 November, from Friday to Sunday from 10 to 16 hours.
